Sleeping Beauty Tips

Sleeping is one of the most important things you should do in order to keep yourself younger. There are some sleeping habits that we should all have.

I recommend at least 8 hours of sleep, eat 3 hours before going to bed and avoid too much alcohol or heavy meals.  Meals with a lot of sodium or alcohol will make you look tired and puffy the following morning.

The sleeping position is essential, you should try to sleep flat on your back. If you sleep lying down or on the side, you will wake up puffy. The reason is that fluid will accumulate on your face and you will be swollen.

Don't press your face against the pillow, if you do this you will accentuate the nasolabial folds (lines from the side of the nose, towards the corner of the mouth) and marionette lines (lines from the corner of the lips downward towards the sides of the chin) that start to appear as we age.

By looking at a patient I can tell on what side of the bed they sleep.  Sleeping on one side of the face may produce wrinkles, flattening and face asymmetry. Facial symmetry has been shown to have an effect of rating attractiveness in humans. More symmetric faces are observed to be more attractive. I recommend to change the side of the bed at least every 4 months.
